Getting the right result
Selling quota is a significant decision. Getting the right result depends on more than finding a buyer - timing, how the quota is offered and access to the right buyers can all make a difference.
FinestKind is independent and works across the New Zealand quota market, connecting you with buyers and managing the sale from the initial discussion through to settlement.
How you sell quota matters
The way quota is offered can have a significant effect on the final result. In most cases, we believe the best approach is to canvas the market broadly, creating competition and giving you a clearer view of where genuine buyer demand sits.
There are times when targeted discussions with particular buyers make sense, but relying on one or two known buyers can mean the wider market is never properly tested. Parcel size, the mix of stocks, timing and whether ACE is included can also influence the result.
Our approach
- Broad market coverage to identify genuine buyer demand
- Targeted discussions with relevant buyers where appropriate
-
Considering how the quota should be offered to attract the strongest buyer interest
- Assessing whether ACE should be included
We manage the whole sale
FinestKind can manage:
- Finding buyers
- Negotiating the sale
- Sale documentation and quota transfer
- Working with banks and lawyers where required
- Settlement and payment
- Keeping you informed throughout the sale
Our role is to make the sale as straightforward as possible, keep things moving and make sure everything is handled properly.
Frequently asked questions
Not necessarily. As part of the sales process, we carry out a market assessment of your quota holdings. We look at the value of the individual stocks, current buyer demand and how the holding is likely to be received by the market.
This helps us determine how the quota should be offered and whether it is best sold as a whole, divided into smaller parcels or with individual stocks sold separately. A formal valuation may still be useful where one is required for financial, governance or other purposes.
